&lt;p&gt;Before Tumblr, I’ve honestly never heard of a thigh gap, let alone known that the subject was so important to teenage girls. &lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;A thigh gap does not dictate another person’s worth, health, fitness or eating habits. What it does show, is that the person has wide hip bones. &lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;On Tumblr, sadly a good number of pictures we see of girls with thigh gaps are taken at particular angles that either enhance or create the appearance of a gap. A great example of it can be found &lt;a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-gST18esJHBg/UK-5ZUEh03I/AAAAAAAAAEU/NcEB30gRi0k/s1600/thigh+gap1.png"&gt;here&lt;/a&gt;. (and the entire article &lt;a href="http://www.lipstiq.com/2013/02/05/mind-the-gap-the-truth-about-the-thigh-gap/"&gt;here&lt;/a&gt;)&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Lastly, a thigh gap (or any other vain reason) should not be the goal in fitness. The goal should be to become healthy and maintain that lifestyle. A thigh gap is just some overrated obsession that shouldn’t make anyone feel inferior or insecure! &lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Thigh gap or not, I guarantee you are beautiful! &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;I just wanted to share this before and after picture (not really a before and after because I’m not done yet but you know what I mean) to prove a point.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;On the first picture I was doing&lt;strong&gt; lots of cardio&lt;/strong&gt; everyday, doing&lt;strong&gt; little strength training&lt;/strong&gt; and &lt;strong&gt;counting every single calorie&lt;/strong&gt;. I was very possibly undereating. I began doing this on March and by September I barely saw any difference from when I started. &lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The second picture is the result of&lt;strong&gt; lifting&lt;/strong&gt; everyday, with&lt;strong&gt; literally no cardio,&lt;/strong&gt; and clean eating without counting calories.  Just making sure I eat &lt;strong&gt;at least my bmr&lt;/strong&gt;, and hopefully &lt;strong&gt;over it &lt;/strong&gt;(not way over though!). &lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;I’m just trying to say:&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;1.&lt;/strong&gt; Strength training really is as important as people say it is (when it comes to toning, not necessarily for weightloss).&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;2.&lt;/strong&gt; Calories are not meant to be counted exactly. You really don’t need to google “calories in one grape” or ”calories in a gummy bear” or whatever. Just stick to healthy foods and know when to stop eating, or when to eat more, for that matter. And remember undereating is just as bad as overeating.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;3.&lt;/strong&gt; Progress takes time, don’t get discouraged if it takes more than you thought!&lt;/p&gt;
